The Inaugural Australia - Thailand Film and TV Conference
posted 13th February 2007
The ATBC is currently developing plans for an Inaugural Australia-Thailand Film and TV Conference to take place in Sydney in early 2008. This is a conference arising out of the enthusiasm for a segment within the 16th Australia-Thailand Joint Business Conference held in August 2005 at Surfers Paradise. It is aimed at encouraging co-production between Thailand and Australia. Whilst Thailand does not yet have an equivalent level of specific film/TV industry incentives to Australia's, the industry in Thailand is in a growth phase and much potential for mutual benefits exist.

Seminar: "Thailand - What’s Really Happening"
Sydney 17 July and Melbourne, 18 July 2007
It was refreshing for us in Australia to hear directly from such eminent commentators as Dr Chris Baker and Dr Pasuk Phongpaichit, our 2 key note speakers at the ATBC seminar series held in Sydney and Melbourne in July.
Chris and Pasuk were able to provide real insights to our members and guests as to what is really happening in Thailand and how business can continue to profit from the bilateral relationship.
Under Chatham House rules they were able to be even more forthright at the 2 CEO briefings in Sydney and Melbourne, which the ATBC co-hosted with the Asia Society Australasia Centre.
At the seminars they were joined by Sean Riley, Australia Senior Trade Commissioner in Thailand as well as a number of senior Australian business executives who gave attendees on the real business scene in Thailand and practical suggestions on how to succeed in business with or in Thailand.
We would like to acknowledge the financial support provided to the ATBC by the Australia Thailand Institute, British Airways, Austrade, Asia Society Australasia Centre, Deacons and Park Hyatt Melbourne which enabled the events to take place.
